Welcome aboard, everybody. Thanks so much for coming tonight.  

 

I have some very exciting news to share, which is that I think I figured out exactly what the Doctrine of the Tyranny of the Dulled Mind is since I last saw you.  But before we get to that, I’m going to read you two different short stories, and then we’re going to compare and contrast those to see if we can notice any parallels.  

 

I am also incredibly excited to share the first ever Helping Friendly Book Stand with you, but in order to get you to a place where you can fully grasp and understand just what that is exactly, we need to talk about a few things on the way.

 

The biggest topic of discussion is going to be SYMBOLS.  The goal we’re going to set for ourselves for tonight is to be able to speak to each other in SYMBOLS by the time we leave here.  

 

Our aim is to first discover the Transcendental Knowledge [SEJNES], which is by definition beyond language, and then learn how use SYMBOLS to accumulate it and bring it with us on our Journey, and also to communicate it with each other.

 

Sounds easy, right?

 

But the first thing I want to do is take a quick survey, but not talk about the result until later.  By a quick show of hands...

 

 

 

Tonight’s Episode:  The Alchemical Powder of Idealism

 

Our goal tonight, and every night, is to use philosophy to reexamine the basic conditions of our existence.  How does don Miguel Ruiz do this in “The Four Agreements”?


 

Part I


 

Frame of Reference

 

The Four Agreements are not given to us in a vacuum.  Don Miguel Ruiz tells us a story, and then he explains the Four Agreements within the context of that story.  The story provides the FRAMEWORK for the communication/transmission of the TRANSCENDENTAL KNOWLEDGE to be made possible.  

 

The Helping Friendly Book Club also has a story, and within the context of that story we’ve been searching for, and discovering, the Secrets to Eternal Joy and Never Ending Splendor for over four and a half years now.  The Story itself is part of the SEJNES. It’s a delivery system.

 

Regular language does not seem to do Transcendental Knowledge justice, does it?

 

 

 

 

Story #1 - The Toltec Story

 

Thousands of years ago, The Toltec were known throughout southern Mexico as the “women and men of knowledge.”  Anthropologists have spoken of the Toltec as a nation or a race, but, in fact, the Toltec were scientists and artists who formed a society to explore and conserve the spiritual knowledge and practices of the ancient ones.  They came together as masters (naguals) and students at Teotihuacan, the ancient city of PYRAMIDS outside Mexico City known as the place where “Man Becomes God.” [Transmutation?]

 

Over the millennia, the naguals were forced to conceal their ancestral wisdom and maintain its existence in obscurity.  European conquest, coupled with rampant misuse of personal power by a few of the apprentices, made it necessary to shield the knowledge from those who were not prepared to use it wisely or who might intentionally misuse it for personal gain.

 

Fortunately, the esoteric Toltec knowledge was embodied and passed on through generations by different lineages of naguals.  Though it remained veiled in secrecy for hundred of years, ancient prophecies foretold the coming of an age when it would be necessary to return the wisdom to the people.  Now, don Miguel Ruiz, a nagual from the Eagle Knight lineage, has been guided to share with us the powerful teachings of the Toltec.

 

Toltec knowledge arises from the same essential unity of truth as all the sacred esoteric traditions found around the world.  Though it is not a religion, it honors all the spiritual masters who have taught on the earth.  While it does embrace spirit, it is most accurately described as a way of life, distinguished by the ready accessibility of happiness and love.

Story #2 - The Helping Friendly Book

 

Legend has it that a long time ago in a land far away, a book was written that contained within it All the Inherent Knowledge of the Universe.  That book was called The Helping Friendly Book, and it possesed the ancient Secrets to Eternal Joy and Never Ending Splendor. (SEJNES)

 

While it may have seemed like a good idea at the time to have All the Inherent Knowledge of the Universe in one place, unfortunately, The Helping Friendly Book and its secrets fell into the wrong hands, and instead of the Knowledge being used to enlighten people, it was used to brainwash and enslave them, thus ushering in the dark age of the tyranny of the dulled mind.  [‘The Tyranny of the Dull Mind’ is what Bob Marley calls ‘Babylon’ I speculate.]

 

In 2013, after hearing rumors of the lost book, we formed a search party and called ourselves the Helping Friendly Book Club, and that’s how we’ve arrived here, tonight, discussing our 27th book on the Quest.

 

 

 

When you compare and contrast these stories what parallels do you see?

 

  1. The Helping Friendly Book Club is also a society formed to explore and conserve spiritual knowledge and practices of the ancient ones.”

 

  1. HFBC is also searching for where All the Inherent Knowledge of the Universe overlaps in the center of the Divine Venn Diagram. The place where Knowledge “arises from the same essential unity of truth as all the sacred esoteric traditions found around the world.”  We call it the SEJNES, but it goes by many names.

 

  1. HFBC also wraps up the Knowledge we discover in SYMBOLS for a myriad of reasons, which we will discuss tonight.

 

  1. “While it does embrace spirit, it is most accurately described as a way of life, distinguished by the ready accessibility of happiness and love” is also a great description of SEJNES.  SEJNES is an attitude, a worldview, a way of living.*

Bob Marley and The Bible

 

Wisdom theology has rightly been characterized as ‘creation theology’… that is to say, the created world is the source of wisdom’s insights.  Notably these insights are available to all.  Perdue suggests that “revelation is not limited to special forms, for example, the prophetic word or the cultic celebration of the temple, but also includes a more general revelation that is open to all.  Israel and human beings are taught by their observations of creation [PHYLLOTAXIS] not only about nature but also about God, human life, and the world. Because of this universal aspect of wisdom, the texts seldom refer to God as Yahweh, the God of Israel, or other titles pertaining to the election of Israel, but rather as the God of Creation.

 

In “One Love” he refers to God as “the Father of Creation.” This quality of Marley’s lyrics helps broaden their reach to a wide audience.  Marley was able to identify with a wide range of people because of the ambiguous nature of his lyrics… The Rastafari God, therefore, is not characterized as “Black” or the emperor of Ethiopia, but the creator of the universe who seeks to eliminate oppression from the world.

 

The goal of wisdom [SEJNES?] is the good life, here and now. Marley similarly emphasizes a this-worldly life of joy: “If you know what life is worth / You would look for yours on earth.”  Marley does not want people to have to wait until the afterlife to live.  He states, “I want people to live big and have enough,” and proclaims “Rastaman live up!” and the greatest thing is LIFE.

 

The theme of experience in wisdom literature has two parts.  The first is the emphasis on experience as the primary source of knowledge.  “Among the common threads [of wisdom literature]… experience as a source for knowledge and insight represents one of the most pervasive.”

 

The emphasis is on “mystical experience.”  In the mystical state, there was a union with other believers and with God.  However the rastas did not call it belief – they called it knowledge, firsthand knowledge of God and humanity. [SEJNES]

 

The second part of the theme of experience is that wisdom tells of a way of experiencing.  More than an emphasis on experience as a source for knowledge, wisdom presents what James Crenshaw calls “a particular attitude toward reality, a worldview.”  The WISDOM WORLDVIEW is experience based and creation-focused. The wisdom worldview perceives God in everyday life.”

Connection: “Creation-focused” means something similar to our fondness for “phyllotaxis”.  Phyllotaxis means “ongoing growth-from-within.” Symbolism is the ‘language of all Nature’, and so the greatest insights are to be found from a close observation on Nature.   Sir Francis Bacon echoes this as well…

What is a Book Club Without Symbols?

The Helping Friendly Metaphysics

 

“Symbols are oracular forms - mysterious patterns creating vortices in the substances of the invisible world. They are centers of a mighty force, figures pregnant with a power, which, when properly fashioned, loose fiery whirlwinds upon the earth.” – Manly P. Hall

 

 

 

What are some properties and functions of SYMBOLS?

 

Symbols are effulgent and pregnant with hidden meaning, much more meaning than regular language.  Symbols operate on many levels, both revealing and concealing, hiding in plain site. Symbols often transcend and include other symbols, they are meant to be unpacked. Symbols point towards intangible Values, towards Transcendental Knowledge.  Symbols represent Ideals that can connect people.  Symbols are vehicles for your consciousness to expand.  Symbols are NONDUAL. Symbols are Uncapped Pyramids.  Symbols allow us to accumulate knowledge and bring it with us on our Journey.  Symbols are memory devices. They are stock metaphors which are very helpful for storing and accumulating Knowledge on the Quest.

 

Why are we talking about SYMBOLS so much?  

 

Because what the Helping Friendly Book Club is really trying to do, tonight and every night, is communicate to each other those thoughts which transcend the limitations of language.  This is what the Quest for SEJNES is all about.

 

SEJNES is by definition “Transcendental Knowledge.” How do we think thoughts that transcend language, much less communicate those thoughts to others?  SYMBOLS are an “ingenious” way to do this.

 

In order for us to be able to discuss and communicate the “Transcendental Knowledge” that is the SEJNES that we’ve been searching for, we need to be able to think and speak in SYMBOLS, so we need to get ourselves THINKING SYMBOLICALLY.

 

To put this Knowledge into practice I’ve come up with a system using Helping Friendly Sutras and Symbols as mnemonic devices which I would like to try and demonstrate for you tonight.

 

We won’t have time to go over everything we’ve learned because we’ve been on this Quest for over four years now, and we’ve learned a lot, but hopefully a couple examples will get you thinking in the right direction.  SEJNES is not the type of knowledge that can be communicated in a linear, straightforward, purely intellectual way. You have to kind of play around with it in your mind. “This knowledge cannot be attained by seeking it, but only those who seek it find it.“

The Sutras are the Golden Threads of Knowledge, and the Symbols help seal our understanding of them in our memories.

 

Example: The Sutra/Symbol System

Sutra: Your Identity is a Mosaic.

Ishmael thought for a moment. “I’ll give you a general idea of where we’re heading, then you’ll understand.”

 

“Okay.”

 

“Mother Culture, whose voice has been in your ear since the day of your birth, has given you an explanation of how things came to be this way. You know it well; everyone in your culture knows it well. But this explanation wasn’t given to you all at once. No one ever sat you down and said, ‘Here is how things came to be this way, beginning ten or fifteen billion years ago right up to the present.’ Rather, you assembled this explanation like a mosaic: from a million bits of information presented to you in various ways by others who share that explanation. You assembled it from the table talk of your parents, from cartoons you watched on television, from Sunday School lessons, from your textbooks and teachers, from news broadcasts, from movies, novels, sermons, plays, newspapers, and all the rest. Are you with me so far?” [Like a bee, collecting nectar from all these different flowers]

 

“I think so.”

 

“This explanation of how things came to be this way is ambient in your culture. Everyone knows it and everyone accepts it without question.”

 

“Okay.”           

                   

“As we make our journey here, we’re going to be reexamining key pieces of that mosaic. We’re going to be taking them out of your mosaic and fitting them into an entirely different mosaic: into an entirely different explanation of how things came to be this way.”

                   

“Okay.”

                   

“And when we’re finished, you’ll have an entirely new perception of the world and of all that’s happened here. And it won’t matter in the least whether you remember how that perception was assembled. The journey itself is going to change you, so you don’t have to worry about memorizing the route we took to accomplish that change.”

                   

“Right. I see what you mean now.”


 

The Helping Friendly Sutras - Sutra is a Sanskrit word that means "string" or "thread". Each sutra is any short rule, like a theorem distilled into few words or syllables, around which teachings of ritual, philosophy, or any field of knowledge can be WOVEN.  It also refers to an aphorism or a collection of aphorisms in the form of a manual or, more broadly, a condensed manual or text. Helping Friendly Sutras are the Golden Strands of Truth we’ve extracted like nectar from a flower from each of the books we’ve read.  Each time we discover a new sutra on our quest, we WEAVE it into the perpetually-evolving fabric of our individual worldview.

The Ship of SEJNES - the symbolic sum total of the underlying form of all the SEJNES we’ve discovered on our Quest so far, crafted together to form something greater than the sum of all its parts.  SEJNES is ultimately a living philosophy we’re discovering as we go, and The Ship of SEJNES is a metaphor for the philosophical vehicle we’ve been building to carry our Awareness closer to the shores of truth on this adventure. The Quest itself is a metaphor for “The Hero’s Journey”, the path of illumination.  The Ship of SEJNES is a metaphor for a Philosophical Ship of the Imagination, which is the aggregate of all the Helping Friendly Sutras we’ve discovered on our quest so far.

Q: How does this apply to “The Four Agreements”?

A: The Domestication of Humans

 

Your Identity was programed into you by your parents and society. You did not choose it but you agreed with it.  Each agreement you made is another piece of your mosaic, another knot that must eventually be untied. When you agree you give up some of your personal power. In order to reclaim your personal power, you have to have the courage to question your beliefs, to shatter your mosaic as it currently sits and start anew.  

 

 

 

Illuminating Curiosity for the Purpose of Forward Motion

Imagination + Reason + Memory = Illumination

 

“Hearing is the first stage of thinking.  Almost instantly after the hearing comes the seeing.  The inner voice stimulates the imaginative faculty of our intellect to see a picture or vision.  This vision is a thought-form, which itself is a reflection in the mind of the emotional vibration or ‘voice’.  We see this energy as a form of light. It is the light which illuminates the mind. Whether we call it light or sound depends on whether we are seeing it or hearing it; it is still the same energy.

 

Once we have heard this energy, which is LIFE itself, we become AWARE of it and sensitive to it.  Being aware of it we can see it; and once we see it, we can begin to understand it. In order to understand this light, we employ the other to aspects of the intellect - the REASON and the MEMORY - to help us create a clear picture in our mind.  The intellect is that part of the mind which receives the light and reflects it, giving it a form (i.e. as a thought form) which can be analysed, compared and comprehended. The three major faculties of the intellect are the IMAGINATION (i.e. conceptual faculty, related to the right-hand hemisphere of the brain), the REASON (i.e. the analytical faculty, related to the left-hand hemisphere of the brain), and MEMORY (related to the central brain ventricles and spine of the body).  It is this process which is referred to as ILLUMINATION. It bestows upon us knowledge of truth.

How does don Miguel Ruiz use SYMBOLS in “The Four Agreements”?

 

The Smokey Mirror

 

Three thousand years ago, there was a human just like you and me who lived near a city surrounded by mountains.  The hero in this story is a human just like you and me. It could be any of us. The human was studying to become a medicine man, to learn the knowledge of his ancestors, but he didn't completely agree with everything he was learning. In his heart, he felt there must be something more. Here we have the familiar first stage of the Hero’s Journey.  Our Hero is restless and feels like something is missing.

 

One day as he slept in a cave, he dreamed that he saw his own body sleeping.  He came out of the cave on the night of the new moon. The sky was clear, and he could see millions of stars. Then something happened inside of him that transformed his life forever. Burst of Brain Honey? Positive Trauma? Doors of Perception? He looked at his hands, he felt his body, and he heard his own voice say, "I am made of light; I am made of stars."  He has a phorph about the deeper nature of reality that leaves a permanent impression on the Mosaic of his Identity.  (He puddled his chambers with brainhoney.)

 

He looked at the stars again, and then he realized that it's not the stars that create light, but rather light that creates the stars. "Everything is made of light," he said, "and the space in-between isn't empty." Life is enchanted and everything is connected. SEJNES 101 And he knew that everything that exists is one living being, and that light is the messenger of life, because it is alive and contains all information.  Light is everything.

 

Then he realized that although he was made of stars, he was not those stars. "I am in-between the stars," he thought. The Mosaic of his Identity, the self. So he called the stars the tonal, and the light between the stars the nagual, and he knew that what created the harmony and peace between the two is Life or Intent. Without Life, the tonal and the nagual could not exist. Life is the force of the absolute, the supreme, the Creator who creates everything.  Realizes his own divine nature.  He is that which is between the two worlds.  Understands “that which you hold in mind tends to manifest,” which is our Intent.

 

This is what he discovered; This is what he was experiencing subjectively while his pineal gland was squirting brainhoney; Everything in existence is a manifestation of the one living being we call God. Everything is God. And he came to the conclusion that human perception is merely light perceiving light. He also saw that matter is a mirror - everything is a mirror that reflects light and creates images of that light - and the world of illusion, the Dream, is just like the smoke which doesn't allow us to see what we really are. "The real us is pure love, pure light," he said.  THIS IS ALL A DREAM.  WE’RE ALL DREAMING. Our senses are limited and what we perceive with our eyes is mostly illusion.  Everything is connected and everything is a reflection of that Higher Light, including matter.

 

This realization changed his life. Once he knew what he really was, he looked around at other humans and the rest of nature, and he was amazed at what he saw. He saw himself in everything - in every human, in every animal, in every tree, in the water, in the rain, in the clouds, in the earth. And he saw that Life mixed the tonal and the nagual in different ways to create billions of manifestations of Life.

 

In those few moments he comprehended everything. He was very excited squirting brainhoney!, and his heart filled with peace. He could hardly wait to tell his people what he had discovered. But there were no words to explain it. Language is inadequate to convey Transcendent Knowledge. What he experienced is beyond language. He tried to tell the others, but they could not understand. They could see that he had changed, that something beautiful was radiating from his eyes and his voice. They noticed that he no longer had judgement about anything or anyone. He was no longer like anyone else. He went full NONDUAL, then he couldn’t communicate with anyone because his experience transcended the constraints of language.

 

He could understand everyone very well, but no one could understand him. They believed that he was an incarnation of God, and he smiled when he heard this and he said, "It is true. I am God. But you are also God. We are the same, you and I. We are images of light. We are God." But still the people didn't understand him.  Microcosm and Macrocosm. The Monad.

 

He had discovered that he was a mirror for the rest of the people, a mirror in which he could see himself. "Everyone is a mirror," he said. He saw himself in everyone, but nobody saw him as themselves. And he realized that everyone was dreaming, but without awareness, without knowing what they really are. In other words everyone is under the spell of the Tyranny of the Dull Mind caused by the misuse of the Knowledge from the Helping Friendly Book Club, metaphorically. They couldn't see him as themselves because there was a wall of fog or smoke between the mirrors. And that wall of fog was made by the interpretation of images of light - the Dream of humans.

 

Then he knew that he would soon forget all that he had learned. He wanted to remember all the visions he had had, so he decided to call himself the Smokey Mirror so that he would always know that matter is a mirror and the smoke in-between is what keeps us from knowing what we are. He created a SYMBOL for himself as a way to remember what his transcendental experience had taught him, which he knew was outside the realm of what his regular language could point to. He said, "I am the Smokey Mirror, because I am looking at myself in all of you, but we don't recognize each other because of the smoke in-between us. That smoke is the Dream, and the mirror is you, the dreamer."

 

 

 

This sounds a lot like the “Overview Effect” doesn’t it?

 

The overview effect is a transcendental, euphoric feeling of universal connection powerful enough to cause a cognitive shift in awareness reported by some astronauts while viewing the Earth from orbit or from the lunar surface.  

“Something happens to you out there,” Apollo 14 astronaut Edgar Mitchell has said. “You develop an instant global consciousness, a people orientation, an intense dissatisfaction with the state of the world, and a compulsion to do something about it.”

Mitchell described this emotion as “interconnected euphoria” and several other astronauts have reported similar feelings of awe.

“I felt the world was just… there was too much purpose, too much logic,” said astronaut Gene Cernan. “It was too beautiful to happen by accident. There has to be somebody bigger than you, and bigger than me, and I mean this in a spiritual sense, not a religious sense.”

“The Dream of the Planet” - The dream of the planet is the collective dream of billions of smaller, personal dreams, which together create a dream of a family, a dream of a community, a dream of a city, a dream of a country, and finally a dream of the whole humanity. The dream of the planet includes all of society's rules, its beliefs, its laws, its religions, its different cultures and ways to be, its governments, schools, social events, and holidays. We are born with the capacity to learn how to dream, and the humans who live before us teach us how to dream the way society dreams. The outside dream has so many rules that when a new human is born, we hook the child's attention and introduce these rules into his or her mind. The outside dream uses Mom and Dad, the schools, and religion to teach us how to dream.

 

Attention is the ability we have to discriminate and to focus only on that which we want to perceive. We can perceive millions of things simultaneously, but using our attention, we can hold whatever we want to perceive in the foreground of our mind. The adults around us hooked our attention and put information into our minds through repetition. That is the way we learned everything we know.

 

“The outside dream hooks our attention and teaches us what to believe, beginning with the language that we speak.  Language is the code for understanding and communication between humans.  Every letter, every word in each language is an agreement. We call this a page in a book; the word page is an agreement that we understand.  Once we understand the code, our attention is hooked and the energy is transferred from one person to another.

 

This is how the Mosaic of Your Identity is assembled.

 

It was not your choice to speak English. You didn't choose your religion or your moral values — they were already there before you were born. We never had the opportunity to choose what to believe or what not to believe. We never chose even the smallest of these agreements. We didn't even choose our own name.

 

As children, we didn't have the opportunity to choose our beliefs, but we agreed with the information that was passed to us from the dream of the planet via other humans. The only way to store information is by agreement. The outside dream may hook our attention, but if we don't agree, we don't store that information.  If we aren’t CURIOUS enough to pay attention, we aren’t going to remember it.]  As soon as we agree, we believe it, and this is called faith. To have faith is to believe unconditionally.

 

That's how we learn as children. Children believe everything adults say. We agree with them, and our faith is so strong that the belief system controls our whole dream of life. We didn't choose these beliefs, and we may have rebelled against them, but we were not strong enough to win the rebellion.

 

The result is surrender to the beliefs with our agreement.

 

I call this process the domestication of humans. And through this domestication we learn how to live and how to dream. In human domestication, the information from the outside dream is conveyed to the inside dream, creating our whole belief system. First the child is taught the names of things: Mom, Dad, milk, bottle. Day by day, at home, at school, at church, and from television, we are told how to live, what kind of behavior is acceptable. The outside dream teaches us how to be a human. We have a whole concept of what a "woman" is and what a "man" is. And we also learn to judge: We judge ourselves, judge other people, judge the neighbors.

 

Children are domesticated the same way that we domesticate a dog, a cat, or any other animal. In order to teach a dog we punish the dog and we give it rewards. We train our children whom we love so much the same way that we train any domesticated animal: with a system of punishment and reward.

This is the pre-shattered Mosaic of our Identity.

 

We don't see the truth because we are blind. What blinds us are all those false beliefs we have in our mind. We have the need to be right and to make others wrong. We trust what we believe, and our beliefs set us up for suffering. It is as if we live in the middle of a fog that doesn't let us see any further than our own nose. We live in a fog that is not even real. This fog is a dream, your personal dream of life — what you believe, all the concepts you have about what you are, all the agreements you have made with others, with yourself, and even with God. Your whole mind is a fog which the Toltecs called a mitote (pronounced MIH-TOE '-TAY). Your mind is a dream where a thousand people talk at the same time, and nobody understands each other. This is the condition of the human mind — a big mitote, and with that big mitote you cannot see what you really are. In India they call the mitote maya, which means illusion. It is the personality's notion of "I am." Everything you believe about yourself and the world, all the concepts and programming you have in your mind, are all the mitote. We cannot see who we truly are; we cannot see that we are not free.

 

We do not see reality clearly.  We have to shatter the mosaic in order to break everything down to the absolute fundamental building blocks, and then reconstruct our belief system, our agreements, with choice and intention.

 

During the process of domestication, we form an image of what perfection is in order to try to be good enough. Owning this IMAGE is the Secret to SEJNES.  Knowing this image exists and creating it with SEJNES.  This is the Ship of SEJNES.  We create an image of how we should be in order to be accepted by everybody. We especially try to please the ones who love us, like Mom and Dad, big brothers and sisters, the priests and the teacher. Trying to be good enough for them, we create an image of perfection, but we don't fit this image. We create this image, but this image is not real. We are never going to be perfect from this point of view. Never!

 

In the process of being domesticated by the dream of the planet we form an Image of unattainable perfection in our mind that we use to judge not only ourselves but everyone else.  This Image is the Ship before you

 

that we create is the Ship each of us are currently on.  It is not the Ship of SEJNES because we didn’t build it consciously with wisdom, it was built for us.  Realizing this you can choose to upgrade your ship, and where do you turn to do that? To the Quest.

 

Moist Robots

 

The domestication is so strong that at a certain point in our life we no longer need anyone to domesticate us. We don't need Mom or Dad, the school or the church to domesticate us. We are so well trained that we are our own domesticator.

 

We are an autodomesticated animal. We can now domesticate ourselves according to the same belief system we were given, and using the same system of punishment and reward. We punish ourselves when we don't follow the rules according to our belief system; we reward ourselves when we are the "good boy" or "good girl."

 

The belief system is like a Book of Law that rules our mind. Without question, whatever is in that Book of Law, is our truth. We base all of our judgments according to the Book of Law, even if these judgments go against our own inner nature. Even moral laws like the Ten Commandments are programmed into our mind in the process of domestication. One by one, all these agreements go into the Book of Law, and these agreements rule our dream.

 

There is something in our minds that judges everybody and everything, including the weather, the dog, the cat — everything. The inner Judge uses what is in our Book of Law to judge everything we do and don't do, everything we think and don't think, and everything we feel and don't feel. Everything lives under the tyranny of this Judge. Every time we do something that goes against the Book of Law, the Judge says we are guilty, we need to be punished, we should be ashamed. This happens many times a day, day after day, for all the years of our lives.

 

There is another part of us that receives the judgments, and this part is called the Victim. The Victim carries the blame, the guilt, and the shame. It is the part of us that says, "Poor me, I'm not good enough, I'm not intelligent enough, I'm not attractive enough, I'm not worthy of love, poor me." The big Judge agrees and says, "Yes, you are not good enough." And this is all based on a belief system that we never chose to believe. These beliefs are so strong, that even years later when we are exposed to new concepts and try to make our own decisions, we find that these beliefs still control our lives.

 

Whatever goes against the Book of Law will make you feel a funny sensation in your solar plexus, and it's called fear. Breaking the rules in the Book of Law opens your emotional wounds, and your reaction is to create emotional poison. Because everything that is in the Book of Law has to be true, anything that challenges what you believe is going to make you feel unsafe. Even if the Book of Law is wrong, it makes you feel safe.

 

It requires a great deal of courage to be willing to reexamine your beliefs.  Most people these days tend to trigger themselves before they are able to reasonably consider all their options.  TO KEEP YOUR IDENTITY WET means to have the courage to be willing to question what’s been put into your Book of Law, and the courage to doubt your Inner Judge.

 

That is why we need a great deal of courage to challenge our own beliefs. Because even if we know we didn't choose all these beliefs, it is also true that we agreed to all of them. The agreement is so strong that even if we understand the concept of it not being true, we feel the blame, the guilt, and the shame that occur if we go against these rules.

 

Just as the government has a book of laws that rule the society's dream, our belief system is the Book of Laws that rules our personal dream. All these laws exist in our mind, we believe them, and the Judge inside us bases everything on these rules. The Judge decrees, and the Victim suffers the guilt and punishment. But who says there is justice in this dream ?  True justice is paying only once for each mistake. True injustice is paying more than once for each mistake.

 

Prelude to a New Dream

 

There are thousands of agreements you have made with yourself, with other people, with your dream of life, with God, with society, with your parents, with your spouse, with your children. But the most important agreements are the ones you made with yourself. In these agreements you tell yourself who you are, what you feel, what you believe, and how to behave. The result is what you call your personality. [This is The Mosaic of your IDENTITY.]  In these agreements you say, "This is what I am. This is what I believe. I can do certain things, and some things I cannot do. This is reality, that is fantasy; this is possible, that is impossible."

 

One single agreement is not such a problem, but we have many agreements that make us suffer, that make us fail in life. If you want to live a life of joy and fulfillment, you have to find the courage to break those agreements that are fear-based and claim your personal power. The agreements that come from fear require us to expend a lot of energy, but the agreements that come from love help us to conserve energy and even gain extra energy.  You have to have courage to shatter the mosaic of your IDentity and then build it back up.  The Quest takes courage.

 

Each of us is born with a certain amount of personal power that we rebuild every day after we rest. Unfortunately, we spend all our personal power first to create all these agreements and then to keep these agreements. Our personal power is dissipated by all the agreements we have created, and the result is that we feel powerless. We have just enough power to survive each day, because most of it is used to keep the agreements that trap us in the dream of the planet. How can we change the entire dream of our life when we have no power to change even the smallest agreement?

 

If we can see it is our agreements which rule our life, and we don't like the dream of our life, we need to change the agreements. When we are finally ready to change our agreements, there are four very powerful agreements that will help us break those agreements that come from fear and deplete our energy.

 

Each time you break an agreement, all the power you used to create it returns to you. If you adopt these four new agreements, they will create enough personal power for you to change the entire system of your old agreements.

 

You need a very strong will in order to adopt the Four Agreements — but if you can begin to live your life with these agreements, the transformation in your life will be amazing. You will see the drama of hell disappear right before your very eyes. Instead of living in a dream of hell, you will be creating a new dream — your personal dream of heaven.”

 

 

 

The First Step is Awareness

 

“The worst part is that most of us are not even aware that we are not free. There is something inside that whispers to us that we are not free, but we do not understand what it is, and why we are not free. The problem with most people is that they live their lives and never discover that the Judge and the Victim rule their mind, and therefore they don't have a chance to be free. The first step toward personal freedom is AWARENESS. We need to be aware that we are not free in order to be free. We need to be aware of what the problem is in order to solve the problem. Awareness is always the first step because if you are not aware, there is nothing you can change. If you are not aware that your mind is full of wounds and emotional poison, you cannot begin to clean and heal the wounds and you will continue to suffer.” - pg 98

 

There is no reason to suffer. With awareness you can rebel and say, "This is enough!" You can look for a way to heal and transform your personal dream. The dream of the planet is just a dream. It is not even real. If you go into the dream and start challenging your beliefs, you will find that most of the beliefs that guided you into the wounded mind are not even true. You will find that you suffered all those years of drama for nothing. Why?  Because the belief system that was put inside your mind is based on lies.

 

That is why it is important for you to master your own dream; that is why the Toltecs became dream masters. Your life is the manifestation of your dream; it is an art. And you can change your life anytime if you aren't enjoying the dream. Dream masters create a masterpiece of life; they control the dream by making choices. Everything has consequences and a dream master is aware of the consequences.

The Alchemical Powder of Idealism

 

We have no controversy with science, for that aspect of man to which we have focused on is essentially superphysical — accordingly,  outside the scope of scientific observation. We would simply introduce metaphysics to that realm where physics cannot tread. The doctrines herein set forth are not our own. They  belong to the ages, part of a noble heritage from a prehistoric time. Some will say that knowledge came down from the  heavens, others that it came up from the Precambrian slime. The pathway of wisdom is well marked. It winds as a golden thread through civilization — the one reality in a world of unrealities. As a ray of heavenly light it touched the buds of empire, and warmed by its glory, the ages blossomed and bore their fruit.

Those who have envisioned the true splendor of wisdom have closed their books forever. The human body is witness to a hidden majesty. Man, gazing into his own eyes, beholds  therein a “new testament.” Blood courses through the veins and arteries; the heart sounds the drumbeats of progress; the mind soars upward to explore the reaches of eternity; the hand reaches across the interval of bodies to touch the hand of another. It is not enough for science to teach that man is born, suffers, and dies. Such propositions are unworthy of a rational creature. Man is the symbol of a nobler purpose, the evidence of a higher destiny. The mortality of the intellect, if touched by the radiant finger of true enlightenment, is transformed. By the alchemy of realization humanity achieves immortality. Life goes on, soul goes on, purpose goes on, reality goes on. Immortality is inevitable. It is only the intellect, turned by false doctrines from its natural course, that can think itself into the belief of extinction. The Doctrine of the Tyranny of the Dulled Mind

 

Which brings us back to our survey.  Which is more real, the physical chair you’re sitting on, or the “Idea” of a chair?

 

I speculate that most of us have been DOMESTICATED into believing the physical chair is more real than the actual chair, but is this true or is it an assumption?

 

Follow Up Question: Which came first, the Eiffel Tower or the “Idea” of the Eiffel Tower?  The Great Pyramid or the “Idea” of the Great Pyramid? Which is more real?

 

If we have been constructing our Identity one agreement at a time, what is the most basic assumption we make about what we think we know about the universe?  What is the baseline assumption we’ve constructed our entire worldview on top of?

 

Dare I say the most basic premise of the modern era zeitgeist is the Doctrine of Materialism, the idea that the world of our senses is more real that the world of our Thoughts and Ideals.

 

Materialism: the philosophical doctrine that nothing exists except matter and its movements and modifications.

 

Materialism is the Doctrine of the Tyranny of the Dulled Mind because it exaggerates what we think we know and refuses to acknowledge what we don’t know.  Materialism is the most destructive superstition of all time.

 

Symbolism is a different type of “language” that we have to learn to “speak” on the Quest in order to discover the SEJNES, which is by nature beyond language (Transcendental Knowledge).  Symbolism takes some getting used to for us because Symbolism is the language of IDEALS, and IDEALS are at odds with MATERIALISM.

 

But if we want to “Emancipate Ourselves from Mental Slavery” we need to have the courage to break out of the confines of our strictly Materialistic worldview and question our beliefs.

 

In order to be able to discover the SEJNES, we must first learn to make space in our IDENTITY for IDEALISM, and one of the best ways I’ve found to do that is to first make space in our Identity for WONDER.

 

Plato said that all philosophy begins in WONDER.

    Modern science is killing off wonder, by telling us that we know it all.  Modern science is killing off philosophy, by encouraging us not to ask big questions. These questions are strictly meaningless, they say.  Just get on with it.

    Today’s scientists try to insist that theirs is the only way to interpret the basic conditions of human existence.  They like to dwell on what they know. In their view, the known is like a vast continent occupying nearly everything there is.

    The men and women who have been described making history in this book have preferred to dwell on what they don’t know.  In their view, the known is a tiny island floating on a vast and very strange sea.  

    Let us sow the seeds of doubt.  Let us take Francis Bacon’s advice and refrain from rushing to impose a pattern on the world.  Let us wait with Keats at our shoulder, for a deeper pattern to emerge.

    Science is not certain.  It is a myth like any other, representing what people in the deepest parts of themselves want to believe.

The remains of an ancient wisdom lie all around us in the names of the days of the week and the months of the year, in the arrangement of the pips in an apple, in the strangeness of the mistletoe, in music, in the stories we tell our children and in the design of many public buildings and statues and in our greatest art and literature.

    If we can’t see this ancient wisdom, it is because we have been conditioned not to.  We have been bewitched by materialism.

    Science sees idealism as having dominated history up until the seventeenth century, when the process of discrediting it began.  Science assumes materialism will remain the dominant philosophy until the end of time. In the view of the secret societies, materialism will come to be seen as a mere blip.” - Mark Booth, The Secret History of the World. Pg 548

 

What is the opposite of Materialism?

Idealism.

 

What keeps us trapped in the world of MATERIALISM is that we have forgotten that we are dreaming.  We are so caught up in the empire of our senses that we do not realize it is all an illusion, or MITOTE.

 

How do we wake up from the dream?  How do we get out of the illusion? One way is to build yourself a Philosophical Ship of the Imagination...

 

Our first problem is we don’t see the world clearly, and we suffer as a result of that, so the first thing we need to do is clarify the world for ourself.  We need to start fresh at ground zero and build up from there. If we were setting out to build a pyramid, what’s the first step we would take? What do we know for sure?

 

We need a working model of the underlying form of the universe, a framework, a Metaphysics.

 

MATERIALISTS DON'T LIKE SYMBOLS because Symbols point towards Intangible Values and Ideals, which are not made of matter.  IDEALISTS LOVE SYMBOLS because they represent much more meaning than regular language.

 

Materialism says that only the world of our senses is actually real.

Idealism says that matter is actually an aspect of mind.

 

Materialist think things that happen are random.

Idealist thing things that happen are the opposite of random.

An Example of an Idealistic Worldview:

The Hebrew Wisdom

 

The master-key to the Hebrew wisdom is the "name" translated "Lord" in the Authorized Version of the Bible, and "Jehovah" in the revised versions. It is not really a name at all, but rather a verbal, numerical and geometrical formula. In Roman letters corresponding to Hebrew it is spelled IHVH.

 

This is a noun form derived from a Hebrew verb meaning "to be." Correctly translated, it means "That which was, That which is, That which shall be." THAT, not HE. Thus, it is a perfect verbal symbol for the One Reality- for that Something which has always subsisted behind all forms in the eternity of the past, for that Something which really is behind all the appearances and misunderstandings of the present, for that Something which will be the foundation for all the changing forms of life-expression in the eternity to come.

 

Never has Ageless Wisdom attempted to define this One Reality. Its inner nature defies analysis, cannot be put within the limits of any formal statement, because the One Reality is infinite. Yet, in every age the report of the wise has been that in the One Something inheres the power to know.  We say, therefore, that IHVH is a verbal symbol for the Conscious Energy that brings all things and creatures into existence.

 

The Qabalah classifies all possible operations of this One Energy into four planes, or "worlds." Each plane or world is represented by a letter of IHVH, as follows:

 

The Archetypal World. This is the world of pure ideas. In the archetypal plane are the root-notions inherent in the innermost nature of the universal Conscious Energy. From these ideas are derived all actual forms of manifestation. For example, the pure idea of a chair is the idea of sitting. In that idea, as in all others, is embodied a volition - the will-to-sit. This will-to-sit is the single rootnotion behind all possible chair-forms that ever have been, are now, or ever shall be. Thus the archetypal world is seen to be the plane of will-ideas. To it Ageless Wisdom assigns the element of fire, representing universal radiant energy. In IHVH this world and this element are represented by the letter "I."

 

The Creative World. Here the ideas of the archetypal world are specialized as particular patterns. "Sitting" becomes the mental pattern for some special kind of chair. The Cosmic Energy acting on this plane contains the patterns of all chairs that have been made or thought of in the past, of all existing in the present-but not those as yet unthought of. So with all other patterns of particular forms. To this world Ageless Wisdom assigns the element of water, symbolizing the fluid plasticity of the cosmic mind-stuff. The creative world is represented in IHVH by the first "H."

 

The Formative World. Here the archetypal ideas, specialized in creative patterns, are brought forth into actual expression. It is the plane of processes, the world of forces behind the veil of physical things. The formative world is that which is now explored by physicists and chemists. It is the world of vibratory activities, and also the astral plane of occultism. Here take place the various kinds of action whereby the Cosmic Energy actualizes its patterns. Ageless Wisdom assigns to this world the element of air, representing the life-energy which wise men everywhere have associated with breath. The formative world is represented by "V" in IHVH.

 

The Material World. This is the plane of the actual forms which affect our physical senses. Here the process of bringing down the idea of sitting, through an operation based on the pattern of a particular chair, is finally completed as the chair itself. This plane corresponds to the element of earth, representing the solidity and tangibility of physical objects. It corresponds to the second "H" in IHVH.

 

In every one of the four worlds, the Qabalah conceives the operation of ten aspects of the universal Conscious Energy. This idea that all possible aspects of the one Reality may be reduced to a tenfold classification is found in every version of the Ageless Wisdom. Thence arises the esoteric teaching concerning the meaning of numbers...

We have been talking a lot about Sir Francis Bacon and reading Manly P. Hall lately, who both wrote in eras that did not fully appreciate the Divine Feminine openly in their language.   Now that we are embarking on a major new stage of growth, I thought it was high time we formally invited the Divine Feminine into our circle and asked Lady Wisdom to aid us on our Quest for SEJNES.

Official Patroness and Muse of the Helping Friendly Quest

 

Pallas Athena is Goddess of Intelligence and Enlightenment, by means of whom Wisdom is born and made manifest in the world.

 

If the Ship of SEJNES didn’t already have a name, we would name it the Pallas Athena.

 

As the great Goddess of Intelligence, she is the upholder of justice and virtue. She is the Goddess of Poetry, in the sense of Poetry embracing all other things, and is known as the Tenth Muse, Leader of the other Nine.

 

Pallas Athena is Patroness of the useful and elegant arts such as WEAVING. She is worshiped as the Goddess of Knowledge, art, and the crafts, a warrior maiden, and a patroness of cities and states, sciences and skill, intelligence, and a knack for ingenuity.  Among the many inventions attributed to her are musical instruments, the plow, the rake, the SHIP, and the science of numbers.

 

Athena's principal symbols are the olive TREE (signifying enlightenment, peace, concord, prosperity), a SPEAR OF LIGHT (signifying the power of bestowing illumination upon others) a GOLDEN HELMET (akin to the halo, signifying illumination, which is salvation, and which bestows 'invisibility' or protection upon its wearer), a MIRROR-like shield (the mirror was a means of receiving and transmitting knowledge or wisdom by reflection),

 

The OWL was a symbol for Athena, goddess of wisdom and strategy, before the Greeks gave their pantheon human forms. According to myth, an owl sat on Athena's blind side, so that she could see the whole truth. In Ancient Greece, the owl was a symbol of a Higher Wisdom and knOWLedge, and it was also a guardian of the Acropolis. Owls were widely associated with Athena's blessing, and greek soldiers viewed the sight of an owl before a battle as a symbol that the goddess was on their side.  The ability of an owl to see in the darkness symbolized discernment.

 

Pallas Athena was usually placed on the Greek Temples with a Golden Spear in her hand. When the morning rays of the sun glinted on the weapon, causing it apparently to tremble, the common people were in the habit of saying smilingly : "Athena is Shaking her Spear again." She was thus known as "the Spear Shaker" or the "Shaker of the Spear."

Ladies and Gentlemen,

 

I had the pleasure of attending the Dallas City Cultural Planning Meeting here last week and was able to hear what many other members of Dallas’ local Literary and Arts Community has on their minds.  I was exceptionally pleased to hear that our values are very much in alignment with the needs of the community. We also see the groundswell of an intellectual and artistic movement in Dallas, and we want to help connect it.

 

Just as Dallas is working to rebuild a crumbling system of outdated roadways and gas lines, and address the food desert by adding gardens and grocery stores, so are we addressing the city’s literacy infrastructure and cultural systems.  By connecting words and people, books and cultural experiences in never-before-seen ways and unexpected places, we can help seed and instill strong and exciting experiences of meaning. In an era of rapidly expanding digital technology, the tactile, personal world remains.

 

What we really want to do is get people reading more.  As you read more your imagination becomes enriched, your conversations and relationships become enriched, and your communities and neighborhoods become enriched.  Reading, and socially supported reading in particular, elevates social vitality. Values determine behavior, so if we want people to read more, we need to get them to see the value in doing so.

 

If our end goal is to create a community connected by a dynamic, self-perpetuating, intangible thought structure that adds value to people’s lives by helping them find meaning in, what steps can we take to get there?

1. Illuminate Curiosity for the Purpose of Forward Motion.

 

Without curiosity, the willingness to learn anything is nonexistent.  Curiosity is the desire for wisdom, and that desire must always come from within the individual.  Curiosity is a prerequisite for insight, and every time you have an insight, you make a discovery. One discovery leads to the next, thus creating forward motion. One of the nicest things anyone can do for anyone else is ignite their curiosity. That is always the first step.  

 

2. Create Space and Stimulation for the Generation of Insights.

 

Where do insights come from? Under what conditions do we have our best ideas?  It is usually when we are involved in some sort of dialogue that we suddenly have a flash of insight. Phorphs, the subjective experience of making brain honey, are non-linear zaps of pineal jelly.  They cannot be forced. The best thing to do is create ideal conditions for them to occur naturally. We do this by creating space for discussion and WONDER in our lives.

 

3. Support Conscious Connected Community Building

 

We recognize the universal truth that relationships and communities are formed through shared experiences, and valuable shared experiences form valuable relationships and communities.  When a society stops sharing valuable experiences, it begins to decay. Without shared vision, the people will perish. Books are priceless shared experiences that can be shared.

Helping Friendly Book Club is the heart and soul of our Quest and will continue to be so.  Everything we’re doing now has grown out of the Helping Friendly Book Club in some way.  HFBC is where the illumination begins.

 

SEJ Talks is our opportunity to reach the broader Helping Friendly Community at large.  It’s a chance for folks who don’t feel like or are intimidated about coming to book club to still participate and share valuable experiences with their neighbors.  We’ll touch on this at the end if we have time, but for now I just want to mention it so we have an overhead view of what we’re building.

We needed a design that would be instantly recognizable as a Helping Friendly Library to help us create brand distinction and seperate ourselves from the Little Free Library Movement.

We needed it to “illuminate curiosity” to make people curious enough to engage with it.

We needed it to be somewhat modular and scalable to allow us to grow and self-replicate in response to stimulus.

We needed it to be durable and relatively easy to install.

We needed it to look good.

We needed it to be a symbolic representation of our invisible Helping Friendly Ideals.

 

Helping Friendly Book Stands are the physical building blocks we plan to use to create what will ultimately be an intangible community.  Helping Friendly Book Stands are physical representations of our invisible ideals.

 

Each Helping Friendly Book Stand is a BEACON.

Our intention is for each Helping Friendly Book Stand to be a BEACON pointing towards something that is greater than the sum of all its parts, which is the ongoing Quest for the Secrets to Eternal Joy and Never Ending Splendor.  

 

We want to inspire elevated conversations that pull fresh, positive, productive thought patterns into waking life.

 

We want to help reverse the trend toward a culture of ignorance in the age of the smartphone by fostering an increase in the sharing of knowledge and insight through the exchange of books and ideas in local communities.

 

Our hope is that each HFBS will be the spark that helps people find the necessary curiosity to cross the threshold and begin their own Quest for SEJNES, and then to earn our reputation as a trusted friend and resource on that journey.

 

By Illuminating Curiosity for the Purpose of Forward Motion communities become more conscious and connected, thus elevating cultural vitality and social well being.

 

Our plan is to elevate the free public book exchange to the level of an art form, in three phases.  

 

The Strategy

 

As with any great and long lasting endeavor, the first step is to lay a foundation.  Our physical foundation will be a network of interconnected free public book exchanges that illuminate curiosity for the purpose of forward motion.  Our free libraries create space and stimulation for the generation of insights, support conscious, connected community building, and help cultivate social vitality through literature, art and conversation.  

 

Phase I: Phase I is to raise enough money to manufacture and install one Helping Friendly Library for every book we’ve read on the Quest so far, which is currently going on 28.  This gives us a measurable goal, and the first 28 libraries will help us create distinction from other free libraries by pointing people towards something greater than the sum of all it’s parts, which is the ongoing Quest for SEJNES.  Our real goal is to nudge people to begin their own search the SEJNES. Phase I is the activity around which we will manifest our ideal and purpose. If you imagine each library is a tree, we want to plant a forest. (More on that metaphor later.)

 

Phase II: During Phase I we will develop a “Helping Friendly Library Kit” that is scalable and allows us to keep growing out of state. This is so that we can respond to the growing level of interest we’ve received from questers in other cities via social media. The modular ‘Helping Friendly Library Kit’ is what will allow us to help people all over the world start their own Helping Friendly Book Club and Quest for the SEJNES.

 

Phase III: “Plus Oltra” (More Beyond). During Phases I and II we will earn our reputation, raise enough money, and meet the right people to be able to begin commissioning artists to create large scale, one-of-a-kind, outdoor public art sculptures that also function as free public book exchanges.   This is where we will literally elevate the free public book exchange to the level of an art form.  People remember unexpected things in unexpected places, and outdoor, public art sculptures are uniquely impactful in this regard.  When you're curious, you’re receptive. To create stunning, never-before-seen public art sculptures that blow the mind and also function as free book exchanges is our highest mission.  We are going to get there one Helping Friendly Book Stand at a time.

 

Our Ultimate Goal is to commission and manifest an outdoor sculpture as ICONIC as The Bean in Chicago, but that also functions as a free public book exchange.

Each Helping Friendly Book Stand is a Tree

 

“I encourage you to look around where you live.  What DRAMAS are being played out in wooded areas you can explore?  How are commercial and survival balanced in the forests and woodlands you know?  This book is a lens to help you take a closer look at what you might have taken for granted.  Slow down, breathe deep, and look around. What can you hear? What do you see? How do you feel?

 

My story also explains why forests matter on a global scale.  Trees are important, but when trees unite to create a fully functioning forest, you can really say the whole is greater than its parts.  Your trees may not function exactly as my trees do, and your forest might look a little different, but the underlying narrative is the same: forests matter at a more fundamental level than most of us realize.”

The ‘fundamental level’ in this metaphor is the basic level of public discourse in our society,  which is what the Helping Friendly Foundation is trying to elevate. We are advocating for a well-read public because it matters more than we realize and it’s in everybody’s best interest, just like a healthy forest.  The bedrock of a functioning democracy is a well informed populace, which is a FUNDAMENTAL LEVEL of public discourse.    

 

If the collective level of public discourse in Dallas is the forest as a whole, then the Helping Friendly Book Stands are like trees.  They are like trees because they give more than they take, they have wisdom to share, they are places where people can come to connect, and they are constantly influencing and elevating their environment.

 

“Without Vision, the people perish.” The Helping Friendly Mission is focused on making changes on levels that are almost imperceptible yet fundamental.

 

In the same way that we can’t see a tree converting carbon dioxide into oxygen, but we still know it’s happening, Helping Friendly Book Stands, by making reading more attractive, accessible, and communal, are doing the same in the hearts and minds of those who engage with it.  Forests create their own ideal environment. This is what the Helping Friendly Foundation is trying to do. We’re planting a forest of curiosity. Just like PHYLLOTAXIS, we want to mimic the patterns of nature as best we can to align ourselves with our highest potential.

In order to see the basic conditions of our existence in a radically new way, we need to assemble ourselves a new mental framework.  Let’s call this process of erecting ourselves a new worldview for the purpose of better understanding reality “Building You a Pyramid.”  You could also call it ‘Shattering and Reassembling the Mosaic of Your Identity.’  

 

New Sutra: Building you a Pyramid.

 

The Framework or Narrative of the story that is delivering the Transcendental Knowledge to your Awareness is like a Pyramid, or a temple you build around where the Transcendental Knowledge is going to come in.

 

We are going to try and lay the Cornerstone for a new pyramid tonight by reconfiguring our understanding of basic truths.

 

We each need our own Living Metaphysics.

 

Recap:  What are some of the things SYMBOLS allow us to do?

 

Symbols allow us to accumulate knowledge and bring it with us in our journey.

If we can agree on what these SYMBOLS represent then we have a shared value, a shared experience, and that forms a more conscious, connected community.

 

Symbols allow us to mindmap Transcendental Knowledge onto objects that we can use to stamp the SEJNES in our memories.  This allows us to communicate and accumulate knowledge over time, thus forming a whole new honeycomb of your chosen belief structure.

 

Practical Takeaways

 

We all create an internalized image of perfection when we are domesticated. This image of perfection, which is unattainable from the beginning, is what is in our “Book of Law” and the Judge and Victim operate in accordance with whatever is in the ‘Book of Law.’

 

Most people are not even aware that this Image, which they didn’t choose to create, even exists, much less that it is controlling them. Most people are dreaming.

 

‘Shattering the Mosaic of Your Identity’ means having the courage to reexamine your beliefs and start all over, choosing them consciously instead of just agreeing to them.

 

The SEJNES is to own this image and create it as you want it.  This image is the Dream of your Life and you are an artist. Become a Dream master and shape your life as you want it to be.

The Helping Friendly Manifesto

 

The Helping Friendly Mission is to elevate the public conversation and connect people through books in convivial ways. We are advocating for a well-read public because a well-informed populace is the cornerstone of a functioning democracy.

 

Ironically, in the age of the “smartphone”, the threat of Idiocracy is becoming very real. We want to do do our part to help stem that tide by changing the way people feel about reading.  We want people to remember how it felt the first time they read a book that changed their life and bring mystique back to Knowledge.  

 

We recognize the universal truth that relationships and communities are formed through shared experiences, and valuable shared experiences form valuable relationships and communities. When a society stops sharing valuable experiences, it begins to decay. Without shared Vision, the people will perish.

 

The Helping Friendly Initiatives - Helping Friendly Book Club, Helping Friendly Book Stands, and SEJ Talks - are all designed to be engines for valuable shared experiences. They all contribute to our overall mission of elevating the public conversation and connecting people through books in convivial ways.  Our purpose is to make reading more attractive, accessible, and communal.

 

We believe in a Great Instauration of the Arts and Sciences, and we believe that renewal starts quite simply, with everybody reading more. Values determine behavior, so if we want people to change  their behavior to read more, we need to help them see the value in doing so. The first thing we need to do is make reading cool again.

 

Literacy is a pathway to Knowledge, but without curiosity, the willingness to learn anything is nonexistent. Curiosity is a prerequisite to insight, and every time a person has an insight, they make a discovery, and one discovery leads to the next, thus creating forward motion. All meaningful growth begins with first believing in possibilities beyond what is.

 

Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the tyranny of the dulled mind.


 

The Phyllotaxis Here

 

In 2013, after hearing rumors of the legendary lost book, we decided to form a search party and call ourselves ‘The Helping Friendly Book Club’.  On August 14th the Helping Friendly Book Club met for the first time at Boxwood Bar + Grill in Uptown Dallas to discuss “Another Roadside Attraction” by Tom Robbins.

 

In 2014, the idea to create ‘SEJ Talks’ and build the ‘Helping Friendly Little Free Library’ emerged out of the ‘Helping Friendly Book Club’,

 

On November 22nd, 2014 we hosted the first ever ‘SEJ Talks’ at ‘The Mandarin Door’ in the Dallas Design District and revealed the completed ‘Helping Friendly Little Free Library’ to the public for the first time.

 

On December 13, 2014 (12/13/14) we officially cut the ribbon and opened the ‘Helping Friendly Little Free Library’ behind Boxwood Bar + Grill at State and Thomas in Uptown Dallas.

 

In 2015, the community’s overwhelmingly positive response to ‘SEJ Talks’ and the first’ Helping Friendly Free Library’ led to the decision to form ‘The Helping Friendly Foundation’ as a 501c3.  In August of that year we received our 501c3 status.

 

For the last two years we have been steadily growing the ‘Helping Friendly Book Club’ (now reading our 27th book) and developing our strategy for raising the free public book exchange movement to the level of an art form.  Meanwhile-

 

On July 14th, 2015 ‘The Study at the Dram’ was born.

 

On October 20th, 2015 ‘The Dram Poet Society’ was born. When The Dram closed, the Dram Poet Society relocated to The Bottle Shop on Greenville and officially became ‘The Red Red Rose Society.‘

 

On March 29, 2016 ‘The Red Red Rose Society’ met for the first time.

 

On April 12, 2017 ‘Live Oak Sessions’ was born at The Ritz-Carlton, Dallas, expanding our community even further.

 

During the Great American Eclipse Summer of 2017 the ‘Time Wharf’ was born.  We buried the ‘Time Wharf’ on September 17th and it will be unsealed the morning of April 8th, 2024 when the next Total Solar Eclipse passes directly over Dallas.

 

On December 9th 2017 we had our first Cosmic Fireside Chat at the Time Wharf Burial Grounds.

 

On April 8th, 2024, on the morning of the Total Solar Eclipse that passes directly over Dallas that afternoon, we will unseal the Time Wharf.

 

On Tuesday, February 6th 2018, Helping Friendly Book Club will meet to discuss our 27th book on the Quest for the Secrets to Eternal Joy and Never Ending Splendor at “The Wild Detectives” and give the public their first ever sneak peak of the Helping Friendly Book Stand, the “limestone blocks” of our next and most visible stage of phyllotaxis to date.

The Helping Friendly Pyramid

 

Francis Bacon’s brainchild is his Great Instauration, a project he conceived for the step-by-step restoration of a state of paradise upon earth, but coupled with the illumination of mankind. In other words, whereas mankind was innocently ignorant in the original paradise, in the future paradise all human souls will have reached a state of knowledge of truth. To know truth we have to practice truth. Since truth is love, then this means the practice of love. Bacon recognised that we need a science of love in order to learn how to love well and appropriately in all situations, as also to learn what love does and can do, as the primary creative force of the universe…

 

Bacon describes the Great Instauration as building a temple in the mind in which dwells Divinity and which serves Divinity. He likened this temple to Solomon’s Temple, and also to a Pyramid—the Pyramid of Philosophy.

 

Following the wisdom as given in the Bible, Bacon planned his Great Instauration in imitation of the Divine Work—the Work of the Six Days of Creation that leads to the Seventh Day of Rest (the Sabbath of Joy and Illumination). There are, therefore, six stages in the building of this Temple or Pyramid of Philosophy, which culminate in the seventh stage of completion and the use and enjoyment of the Temple. The six building stages can be summarised as: –

 

  1. A survey of the state of things;

  2. The discovery, acquirement or development of a method together with a plan of action;

  3. The collection of a history—a data bank of facts and observations—on which to draw;

  4. The presentation of the data to the mind by means of suitable ‘poetry’ (e.g. drama);

  5. The drawing out of temporary axioms or ideas of truth derived from the experience of the ‘poetry’;

  6. The development of final axioms or certainties as a result of putting the ideas into action—the test being that ‘truth prints goodness’; therefore only if the action and its result is truly good, on all counts, will we achieve illumination and the state of paradise.
